High camp play-escape.
For women. By women.

October 1-5, 2022

  • Join us in the stunning back country of Telluride, CO for 4 nights and 3 days of community, relaxation, healing, empowering group work, optional bodywork and movement, delicious meals (with no dishes or clean up required of you after!), and lots of time to explore and remember what it’s like to let go and PLAY.

  • These last few years have put an immense strain on the shoulders of women in particular; women who are often the traditional primary caretakers and/or emotional laborers in a variety of relationships in their lives. With so many juggling acts going on, it’s no wonder we’ve lost touch with our childlike sense of wonder and joy.

  • Join us for the opportunity to immerse yourself in the healing power of nature, to commune with a group of women who are ready to break free from the every day grind and explore what PLAY means to them as an adult, and learn how to create the mental space (and self-permission!) to incorporate play into our every day lives. We each have an innate need for joy, play, and rest and I want to encourage you to do just that for these four, blissful days.

  • Dear friends

In a recent multi-week workshop I attended with facilitator Justine Duran, one theme we touched on was PLAY. What did play look like for me as a child? What constitutes play for me, as an adult? Is it even possible to incorporate play into my everyday life with so much pressure to constantly create, caretake, and produce? Was there mental and emotional space for play in a world so wrought with heaviness? Did I even remember how to play?

For me, as a child, play brought with it feelings of joy, freedom, imagination, and wonder. And when I stopped to consider what brings me these same feelings now, the answer was simple: nature, travel, and communing with others— without the expectation of productivity.

Thus the idea for this retreat was born.

I want every woman to know that she deserves to stop, step back, and self care— I’m talking real, deep self care, with a heavy dose of community care thrown in for good measure.

These last few years have put an immense strain on the shoulders of women in particular; women who are often the traditional primary caretakers and/or emotional laborers in a variety of relationships in their lives. With so many juggling acts going on, it’s no wonder we’ve lost touch with our childlike sense of wonder and joy.

I have created this itinerary and group of facilitators to offer you each the time, space, and permission to step out of the caretaker role and let someone else help care for you. I am offering you the opportunity to detach from the drive for constant productivity and allow the space and permission to PLAY. Join us for the opportunity to immerse yourself in the healing power of nature, to commune with a group of women who are ready to break free from the every day grind and explore what PLAY means to them as an adult. Come learn how to create the mental space (and self-permission!) to incorporate play into your every day life. We each have an innate need for joy, play, and rest and I want to encourage you to do just that for these four, blissful days.

  • Let's play: October 1-5, 2022

A retreat for women, by women.

An opportunity to leave all responsibilities and expectations behind, and reconnect to a childlike sense of wonder and joy. Immerse yourself in nature and LET GO.

Join us in the stunning back country of Telluride, CO for 4 nights and 3 days of community, relaxation, healing, empowering group work, optional bodywork and movement, delicious meals (with no dishes or clean up required of you after!), and lots of time to explore and remember what it’s like to let go and PLAY.

The bulk of the retreat will take place at the High Camp Hut just outside of Telluride, CO. Also included in the price of this retreat is one night lodging on the front end of our trip at Nobody’s Inn in Durango, CO.

This retreat is meant for women who are ready to completely unplug and detach from their everyday lives and responsibilities. To immerse themselves in uninterrupted nature and community. You must be willing to exert a little bit of physical and emotional energy. I promise the pay off will be worth it!

Realize you are worth it, sign up, pay your tuition, show up, and let us guide you on the experience of a lifetime! Really, the first step is giving yourself permission. The last step is getting yourself to Durango, CO to begin the adventure.

  • Play details

There will be some required physical exertion in order to reach the hut but we believe the payoff is worth the journey. Each participant must consider their own fitness level before signing up for this retreat.

If you are already active and/or live at a higher elevation, this hike shouldn’t be an issue for you. If you aren’t, please don’t count yourself out! Two miles is not a very long way, especially with the encouragement of others and a pace adjusted to every member of the group. Now is a good time to start walking, taking a local hike, and telling yourself you can do it.

The Hut is located at high elevation (11,000 ft) and so we ask each participant coming from lower elevations to commit to a pre-trip regimen to prepare in the weeks leading up to the trip in order to avoid altitude sickness. It’s also a good idea to consult with your doctor to discuss medications for altitude sickness if you come from lower elevations. It is IMPERATIVE that you stay hydrated at these elevations as well, and reconsider any alcohol consumption. Please educate yourself on tips and tricks to prepare for the altitude in ample time before the start of the retreat.

All lodging will be SHARED occupancy. You will have your own bed but will be sharing rooms with other participants. Per Covid protocols, you will need to bring your own linens or sleeping bags (these will be transported with our other belongings). Think of this as a summer camp environment. I know it might sound nerve wracking to share close quarters with virtual strangers but I promise that the slumber-party conditions only enhance the experience.

This retreat is not for those looking for high end, luxury accommodations. The Hut is in a stunning location—the perfect place to completely disconnect— and while it has comfortable beds and a wood stove to keep us cozy (pssst, plus a wood fired hot tub and a sauna!), among many other homey accommodations, it is also rustic. There are two shared composting outhouses (equipped with odor-fighting wood chips and toilet paper), but no showers. There are no plugs and no cell service. This is an opportunity to truly unplug and experience the stunning back country in comfort!

If you are arriving from out of state by plane, please note that the closest major airport is in Albuquerque, NM. Be aware that the drive to our first night’s stay in Durango, CO is approximately 3.5 hours from the airport. There is a smaller, regional airport in Durango, CO.

  • Play itinerary

    October 1
We will meet in Durango, CO. Please plan on arriving at the hotel anytime after 4pm. We will spend the night in downtown Durango at Nobody’s Inn (shared occupancy). Participants are free to explore the town of Durango on their own or just relax in the rooms. We will walk down to a food truck park for our first dinner together at 6pm. We ask that everyone do a final gear check before bed this evening.

    October 2
Check out of Nobody’s Inn after a simple, provided breakfast. We will depart Durango at 9am and drive the final 2 hours to Telluride. If you flew directly to Durango and do not have a car, don’t worry. I’ve got room for you! We will stop in town for last minute provisions before heading to the trailhead. We will have bagged lunches before we begin our hike.

**NOTE: If you have made prior arrangements to meet the group in Telluride on the morning of October 2, you will need to be at the meeting point (TBA) NO LATER THAN 11am!!**

After loading our overnight bags into the transportation vehicle at the trailhead, we will begin our gentle two mile hike up to the Hut. We will allow for as leisurely a pace as the group needs, stopping often for water and photo opportunities. The hike will take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on our pace. Remember, we have no rushed time frame now, you are free of all other responsibilities at this point.

We will arrive at the High Camp Hut to begin our splendid 3 nights stay around 3pm, depending on how long our hike takes us. We will settle in and have free time before joining for our first dinner at the Hut. After dinner, we will have a short group session with Justine where we will work on our own personal intentions for our time together. We will have a sweet little craft opportunity here and end the night with a “turn down” meditation run by Tanya.

    October 3
    Wake up in paradise!

Tanya will offer a pre-breakfast yoga session for those who want to move their body. Or sleep in until the breakfast bell rings! We will share a communal meal before we delve into our first full workshop with Justine. Post workshop, slots for Craniosacral sessions with Holly will begin. Don’t worry, if you don’t get in today, you will have another opportunity tomorrow. There will be ample opportunity to expand on writing prompts from our morning work or further discussions with your new friends while lunch is prepared for you.

Your afternoon will be open for whatever you heart desires. Want to go for a hike? Explore closer to the Hut? Read? Catch up on sleep? Play boardgames? Journal? Have a sauna? Laugh with your new friends? YOU DO YOU! This free-time is where the magic really happens. THIS is what you came for: uninterrupted downtime, no expectations or demands on your time or attention. Room to PLAY and IMAGINE, to find JOY in being in the moment.

We will join back together for a communal dinner. Campfire (complete with s’mores) to follow sunset. Stargazing optional.

    October 4
Another magical morning, another chance for pre-breakfast yoga with Tanya. We will gather for another group session with Justine, post meal. After group work is done, those who did not get a craniosacral session with Holly yet will have the opportunity to sign up with her.

If you would like to take your lunch to go today, you are welcome to wander off in search of the perfect picnic spot. Your afternoon is yours to do as you please, again. You’re welcome.

Final dinner at the High Camp Hut with a special evening wrap up lead by Justine and Tiphini.

    October 5
Last chance to watch nature come alive around you this morning. We will have a small closing circle together during our simple breakfast. You will need to pack up your belongings to be transported back down to the car. We will leave the High Camp Hut by 10am.

The downhill hike will take approximately an hour to reach our vehicles. We will start the drive back to real lives, with new experiences and insight to work with. If you arrived in your own vehicle, this is where you will say goodbye. The drive from Telluride to the Albuquerque airport is approximately 5.5 hours, without stops. Goodbye friends, I hope you leave with so much more than you arrived with!

Holly strives to create a safe space where her clients can feel connected, seen, and supported in their process while allowing their own body’s healing wisdom to emerge. Empowering her clients to reconnect to their individual rhythms and create their own path to healing is the most rewarding part of it all.
